Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk Use your favorite type of milk.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For Frying and Serving
  • as needed Vegetable oil for frying
  • as needed Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk and melted butter.
  3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on both sides.
  3. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Dust the warm beignets with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store uneaten beignets in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a day. Reheat in a warm oven for 5 to 10 minutes for best texture.
