  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Using unsalted lets you control saltiness.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adds deep caramel notes.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Vital for structure.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping) Mixed with cinnamon for the topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter with brown and granulated sugar until combined.
  3. Add in eggs and vanilla extract, and mix well until creamy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  7. Mix 1/4 cup granulated sugar with a bit of cinnamon and sprinkle on top of the batter.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or in the fridge for about a week. Reheat in the oven for best results.
