Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Use fresh butter for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Frying
  • Oil (for frying) Any neutral oil works well.
Serving
  • Chocolate or caramel dip Optional, for serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in flour and vanilla extract until the mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat.
  3. Let it cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Drop small spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil, frying until golden brown.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Coating and Serving
  1. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, and roll the warm churro bites in the mixture.
  2. Serve with chocolate or caramel dip.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature. Reheat in the oven for the best texture. Feel free to experiment with different sugars or dips.
