Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
- Add the vanilla extract and the egg, mixing well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Divide the dough into three equal parts and add different flavorings to each portion.
- Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet, spacing them well apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Store biscotti in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. You can freeze them for up to three months. To regain their crunch, re-bake at 300°F (150°C) for about five minutes.
