Preparation
- Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper and lightly butter the paper.
- In a large, heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over low heat until foamy.
- Add the marshmallows to the pan and stir until melted and glossy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add vanilla and salt if using.
Mixing
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies cereal until well-coated.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press down lightly with a buttered spatula or wax paper.
Setting
- Let sit at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes to set. Alternatively, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Cut into squares and serve.
